Florida is in the tropics and consists of grassland, wetland and wilderness. (ie impenetrable jungle) As such the variety of wildlife is extensive. As Emerald island is completely surrounded by wetland and wilderness with the only access being via the gate (excellent security) there is often wildlife to be seen. I have seen at Emerald island a large variety of birds, some harmless snakes, a bobcat, armadillos and the retention lakes now have some alligators.
