Hurricanes

Florida is within the hurricane area. The villa has successfully survived three hurricanes so far. The villa is built to withstand winds in excess of 110 miles per hour and is situated on the west side (sheltered side) of the “Island”

The villa contains up to date instructions on actions to take in the event of a hurricane threat. The management company will also provide assistance.

South facing has little significance in Florida. Florida is in the Tropics. The sun in June is 3 degrees from directly above at noon. In December it is 15 degrees off. The effect is shown in the diagram opposite. In contrast London is 55 degrees North and as shown casts a very long shadow even in mid summer.

From the table above most people are looking for shade in the summer months.
