Food Fare

“In the past man hunted food, in America food hunts man”

One of the best holiday experiences in Orlando is the large variety of restaurants and food available. Here I have tried to describe some of my favorite food outlets, near to Emerald Island and at the west end of Kissimmee plus some others which I think are worth a visit. I should point out that as everywhere else restaurants come and go and quality varies over time.

Differences between food in the US and Europe

The basic quality of food is of a high quality in the US and is cheaper than Europe. However with the exception of Tex-Mex food is fairly bland to curry eating Brits. It comes in large quantities but apart from the buffet restaurants it is always possible to get a “doggy bag” . Villa renters can benefit as a single pizza may feed the family for two days. Salads tend to be very good.

Tipping

When someone comes up to you and says “ Hello my name is xxxx and I am your server/waiter/host”, this is code for “I am expecting a 15% tip for my efforts”. In more up market restaurants you may be challenged if you forget the tip.
